Danfoss frequency converters

iC2, iC7 and VACON families for every need

From the compact iC2-Micro to the modular iC7 platform and powerful VACON inverters, the Danfoss range has the optimal solution for every motor, process and budget.

What is a frequency converter (VFD)?

A variable frequency drive (VFD) is a device that controls the speed and torque of an electric motor by varying the supply frequency and voltage. The motor operates precisely according to the process demand, thus saving energy and protecting the mechanisms.

Danfoss offers three families of frequency converters: the compact iC2 for simple tasks, the next-generation modular iC7 platform for the most demanding applications, and the industry-proven VACON units – from 0.25 kW to several megawatts of power.

  • Automatic engine adaptation during parking
  • Integrated STO SIL3 functional safety
  • PROFINET, Modbus TCP, EtherNet/IP support
  • IM, PM and SynRM motor control

By choosing Danfoss frequency converters, you get energy savings, a high level of safety and easy integration into existing control systems – all series have a unified maintenance ecosystem.

Main advantages

Danfoss frequency converters provide the highest level of control, safety and flexibility in industrial applications.

High control accuracy

Excellent shaft performance even at low speeds – open and closed loop. Quick start with automatic motor adaptation during standstill.

Security as standard

Hardware protection against unauthorized access and encrypted data transmission with a cryptographic chip. Safe instantaneous stop function (STO SIL3/PLe) as standard.

Multiple communication interfaces

Dual Ethernet port with multiple buses: PROFINET, Modbus TCP, EtherNet/IP, EtherCAT and OPC UA. Protocol can be changed in the field without changing boards.

Compact design

The compact housing saves space and reduces cooling costs. Integrated filters reduce integration costs in larger systems.

Modular and scalable platform

The modular control concept allows for expansion of functionality as needed. Power is increased by paralleling high-power units without balancing filters.

Adapted to any engine

Connect an induction (IM), permanent magnet (PM) or synchronous reluctance (SynRM) motor - the drive will automatically adapt to its parameters.

Danfoss frequency converter families

For every application – the right series: iC2, iC7 or VACON.

iC2-Micro

Compact inverter up to 22 kW for simple OEM and individual applications: conveyors, fans, pumps. Quick start-up and optimal price.

iC7 family

Next-generation modular platform: iC7-Automation, iC7-Aqua, iC7-HVACR and ULH versions. Power up to 710 kW, system modules up to 2700 kW.

VACON® 100 family

Universal industrial inverters up to 800 kW: INDUSTRIAL – for general applications, FLOW – for pump and fan systems.

VACON® NX family

NXP and NXS are highly dynamic converters for heavy industry and ships: cranes, lifting equipment, mining. Air or liquid cooled, power up to several MW.
