What is a frequency converter (VFD)?
A variable frequency drive (VFD) is a device that controls the speed and torque of an electric motor by varying the supply frequency and voltage. The motor operates precisely according to the process demand, thus saving energy and protecting the mechanisms.
Danfoss offers three families of frequency converters: the compact iC2 for simple tasks, the next-generation modular iC7 platform for the most demanding applications, and the industry-proven VACON units – from 0.25 kW to several megawatts of power.

The compact housing saves space and reduces cooling costs. Integrated filters reduce integration costs in larger systems.
Modular and scalable platform

Connect an induction (IM), permanent magnet (PM) or synchronous reluctance (SynRM) motor - the drive will automatically adapt to its parameters.

VACON® 100 family
Universal industrial inverters up to 800 kW: INDUSTRIAL – for general applications, FLOW – for pump and fan systems.
VACON® NX family
NXP and NXS are highly dynamic converters for heavy industry and ships: cranes, lifting equipment, mining. Air or liquid cooled, power up to several MW.
